El Niño events can have far-reaching consequences, including heatwaves, droughts, floods, disease outbreaks, and disruptions to essential services and livelihoods. As climate-related risks become more frequent and severe, the ability to anticipate, prepare for, and respond effectively to these hazards is increasingly critical. This session explores how Early Warning Systems (EWS) can translate climate forecasts into timely, evidence-based action, enabling governments, communities, health systems, and other sectors to strengthen preparedness, reduce vulnerability, and build long-term resilience in the face of a changing climate.
